My Background

I'm Jack Bakken and I have created this calculus program after personally identifying recurring problems that high school AP students experience in their first term of calculus. My intent with these courses is to wrap my 7 years of private tutoring experience into a series of videos which introduce students to the utility of calculus. I'm taking the lessons I deliver in person and packaging them into my calculus program to offer the same proven, valuable insight to all first-year calculus students. Most pre-calculus students receive a summer assignment which helps them refresh the algebraic strategies they will need to succeed in the course. However, these students entering calculus never get introduced to what it actually is they are about to start learning. They get to class, receive a crash course on these brand new concepts then focus most of their time on learning the techniques for doing calculus. I have created these videos to take a deeper dive into the concepts and how calculus is working. I keep the technical details simple and focus on building a completely strong foundation of the concept for students to enter their first calculus course ready to acquire new technical skills with the understanding of how they apply. My videos will show you that calculus is truly a digestible, straight-forward course after a clear explanation of the core concepts. You will be standing on a confident structure of understanding when it comes time to learn the new math techniques underlying the concepts.
